Junior Handler | Constellis

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Constellis, located in Raleigh, NC. Constellis is dedicated to providing specialized security services, and this role contributes directly to maintaining national security through diligent cargo screening. The Junior Handler plays a critical part in identifying and mitigating potential threats, ensuring compliance with strict federal regulations. This position requires a significant commitment to canine partnership and continuous training.

• Mission: Screen cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations, utilizing a trained working dog to identify potential threats.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Screen Cargo: Participate in specialized training to effectively search cargo and identify potential threats in accordance with CCSP guidelines.
• Perform Duties: Conduct authorized representative duties, utilizing X-ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection methods as required.
• Canine Handling: Command a trained working dog to perform all assigned Junior Handler duties related to cargo screening.
• Maintain Records: Be responsible for maintaining comprehensive training records for personal certifications and the assigned certified canine.
• Canine Care: Provide continuous care and maintenance for the assigned certified canine, ensuring it resides in an adequate, indoor, climate-controlled space at the employee’s residence, subject to reoccurring inspections.

The Must-Haves
• Background: U.S. Citizenship, held for a minimum of three years prior to the date of application.
• Experience: Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN), Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, and Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment. Must be able to pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to eight weeks of employment and maintain these certification requirements. Possess a valid US driver’s license with a satisfactory driver record, compliant with REAL ID standards or accompanied by a valid U.S. passport, and have adequate climate-controlled transportation for the assigned Canine and Crate inside the vehicle to and from the work location.
• Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion; problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process; ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment; ability to lift and carry various items weighing up to 100 lbs; capability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions; and the ability to perform intermittent sitting, walking, running, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, kneeling, and constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
