Junior Designer | Shelter

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Shelter, located on-site in Columbia, Missouri. Shelter is a premier organization in the insurance industry, noted for its uncompromising commitment to excellence, both for customers and employees. This Junior Designer position is a key opportunity to contribute to the company’s Digital Strategy group, providing essential user and customer experience design support for various internal and external applications and websites, thereby enhancing how Shelter interacts with its audience and operates its business through thoughtful design.

• Team: Member of Shelter’s Digital Strategy group, operating as an Individual Contributor
• Mission: Provide user and customer experience design support for key business functions, applications, and websites.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Group Contribution: Serve as an active member of Shelter’s Digital Strategy group.
• Design Support: Provide user/customer experience and design support for key business functions.
• Application Support: Support internal and external applications and websites through design contributions.
• Project Participation: Support other corporate projects as a member of the Digital Strategy team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job-related experience. This role is ideal for those early in their career, with foundational knowledge typically acquired in fields such as human factors, psychology, communications, journalism, or design.
• Experience: Typically requires zero to three years of experience in a dedicated design role. Applicable educational background can also be considered in lieu of direct work experience. A portfolio of work or project examples is required for application.
• Skills: Understanding of user experience (UX) and customer experience (CX) concepts and practices; Foundational understanding of basic website design principles and relevant design tools; Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies; Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse technical and business stakeholders.
