Junior Cost Accountant | LHH

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at LHH, recruiting for their client located in Charlotte, NC. The client is a manufacturing company, and this position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to develop expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations. This role is vital for ensuring accurate product costing, maintaining inventory integrity, and contributing to the financial health of the company’s production processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Inventory Accounting: Assist with managing inventory accounts and performing monthly inventory reconciliations.
• Cost Analysis: Analyze inventory, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations related to inventory and manufacturing activities.
• Operational Partnership: Collaborate with operations, production, and supply chain teams to support inventory accuracy and cost controls.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, as an early-career accounting professional.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, with exposure to inventory accounting, cost analysis, or manufacturing reporting; experience with ERP systems.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis; analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent attention to detail.
• Bonus: Experience with inventory reconciliations and cycle counts; exposure to standard costing, Bills of Materials (BOMs), or manufacturing cost analysis; CPA eligibility or progress toward certification.
