The Tone:
This is a mid-level laboratory technician role at RJ Lee Group, tasked with performing technical testing and analytical procedures under moderate supervision. This position requires a working knowledge of laboratory protocols, data analysis, and instrument operation, making it a pivotal part of the lab’s operational capacity. The Junior Analyst plays an important part in progressing complex testing projects and upholding stringent quality standards. Additionally, the role contributes to the development of the team by assisting in the mentorship of junior analysts or technicians, thereby ensuring the continued competence and growth of the laboratory’s staff and the reliability of its results.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Analysis: Conduct intermediate-level sample preparation and analysis utilizing a range of standard methods, including gravimetric, spectroscopic, microscopic, and chromatographic techniques.
• Manage Instrumentation: Operate, calibrate, and diligently maintain laboratory instrumentation with minimal supervision, ensuring continuous functionality and accuracy for testing procedures.
• Report Findings: Analyze and interpret generated data, meticulously reporting findings with careful attention to accuracy and full compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot Issues: Identify deviations from expected analytical results or instrumentation performance issues, escalating these appropriately and assisting in troubleshooting routine equipment malfunctions.
• Mentor Staff: Mentor and provide constructive guidance to entry-level laboratory staff, such as Analyst I or Technician roles, fostering their technical growth and adherence to protocols.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related technical field, preparing for a mid-level laboratory technician role.
• Experience: 1-2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a technical or analytical environment, including proven ability in operating laboratory instruments, interpreting basic data sets, and troubleshooting routine issues.
• Skills: Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety practices, ability to meticulously follow SOPs and regulatory methods (e.g., NIOSH, ASTM, EPA), effective written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, ability to work on multiple priorities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Bonus: Prior experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
