The Opportunity: IT Intern

Location & Travel

  • Office Assignment: This is an On-Site Position at our York Office.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to other offices, yard locations, training events, offsite meetings, and customer facilities as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

As an IT Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our IT operations, focusing on user support, system maintenance, and project assistance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Support:
    • Assisting in providing technical support to end-users.
    • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving technical problems efficiently.
    • Responding to help desk tickets, phone calls, and emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • System & Hardware Management:
    • Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
    • Assisting with asset and inventory management.
    • Performing new hardware configuration and deployment (e.g., Laptops, Tablets, Mobile Phones).
  • System Administration Support:
    • Supporting system administration tasks, including user account management, access control, and system configurations.
  • Project Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Collaborating with IT team members on project initiatives, such as system deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
    • Assisting in gathering requirements, conducting research, and preparing documentation for IT projects.
    • Contributing to project tasks, testing, and quality assurance activities as needed.
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • IT Security Assistance:
    • Assisting in implementing and maintaining IT security measures, policies, and procedures.
    • Participating in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response activities.
    • Promoting awareness of cybersecurity best practices among end-users.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a technical or bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Passion for IT: Strong interest in pursuing a career in information technology, coupled with a passion for learning and professional development.
  • Technical Foundation: Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and software applications.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Preferred Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic IT tools is preferred.
  • Attitude: Possesses a “can-do” attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and meet strict deadlines.
