Job Description
AD Mass Spectrometry Informatics Intern | Takeda
The Tone:
This is an internship at Takeda, located in Lexington, MA. The Analytical Development (AD Biologics) team plays a vital role in drug development by creating analytical methods to assess the quality of drug candidates. The Structural Characterization team specifically uses advanced mass spectrometry to understand molecular integrity, heterogeneity, and stability, providing critical insights for biotherapeutics. This internship project is centered on developing an internal, web-based database for post-translational modification (PTM) delta-mass references, which will improve the consistency and accuracy of data interpretation from mass spectrometry workflows.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time
• Location: Lexington, MA
• Pay: $21–$46 hourly
• Team: Structural Characterization team, part of Analytical Development (AD Biologics), Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Mission: Develop a centralized, web-based post-translational modification (PTM) delta-mass reference database to standardize and improve mass spectrometry data interpretation.
• Tech Stack: Amazon Web Services (AWS)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Compile: Compile post-translational modification (PTM) information from UniMod, scientific literature, and internal records into a structured reference set.
• Consolidate: Consolidate aliases and define preferred nomenclature to standardize PTM naming across analytical development.
• Design: Design and implement a user-friendly, web-based database interface within the organization’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment.
