Job Description: IT Intern
This internship for an IT Intern will be based in Philadelphia, PA, and is scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2026. The hours, exact start, and end dates are flexible to accommodate the intern’s academic calendar.
Position Description
The IT Intern position at FIRE is designed to provide a well-rounded experience. The intern will not only become familiar with FIRE’s activities but also with the moral and intellectual foundations of the organization’s work. FIRE utilizes a variety of robust IT solutions, offering the intern exposure to areas such as mobile device management, enterprise cloud solutions, and best-in-class user experience and support.
Responsibilities
FIRE is looking for an energetic IT Intern to assist with various organizational activities. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Performing day-to-day operations such as answering phones, dispatching IT tickets, and assisting with general user experience issues.
• Conducting research on various IT-related topics.
• Performing basic CRM administration and data maintenance duties.
• Performing basic website administration duties.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A successful candidate for this IT Intern position will possess:
• Excellent computer skills (Mac), including proficiency in MS Office and the Google Workspace/Gmail platform.
• Comfort using Excel or Google Sheets.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple levels within the organization.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are preferred:
• Experience in an IT support role or prior troubleshooting experience.
• An understanding of and enthusiasm for FIRE’s mission.
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM and data management systems.
• Student leadership experience.
Office and Position Details
FIRE’s office is situated in Old City, Philadelphia. The location is highly accessible for commuters, with easy access via SEPTA regional rail, subway, bus service, or PATCO rail service. Parking is also available in the vicinity at various lots and garages, typically costing between $15 and $30 per day.
The IT Intern will be compensated at a rate of $17.00 per hour and will work in a standard office environment. The role requires the use of personal computers, copy machines, and telephones. On occasion, the intern may be required to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Additionally, the IT Intern may sometimes be asked to perform errands that involve walking to places within the immediate vicinity of the FIRE office.
Students in this internship will undergo regular evaluations. Highly successful candidates may receive an invitation for future intern experiences or could be offered a part-time position, however, further employment is not guaranteed.
