The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a Houston, Texas based principal investment firm. Our client primarily provides long-term debt and equity capital to lower middle market companies, with annual revenues typically between $10 million and $150 million, and debt capital to larger middle market companies. The firm builds a diverse portfolio by supporting management buyouts, recapitalizations, growth financings, refinancings, and acquisitions across various industry sectors. As an Associate/Senior Associate, you will be an integral part of the investment team, directly contributing to the firm’s strategic goal of originating, executing, and managing new investments. This role is critical for identifying, analyzing, and structuring investments that allow the firm to partner with entrepreneurs and management teams, providing crucial “one stop” financing alternatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Opportunity Assessment: Conduct initial reviews of investment opportunities, developing the investment thesis and transaction structure.
• Financial Analysis & Valuation: Build comprehensive financial and operating models and prepare valuation comparisons for potential investments.
• Due Diligence & Negotiation: Lead thorough due diligence processes and actively participate in the negotiation of acquisition documentation.
• Investment Committee & Portfolio Management: Prepare detailed Investment Committee materials and contribute to portfolio management, including attendance at portfolio company Board Meetings.
• Transaction Sourcing: Actively participate in select areas of new business development and transaction sourcing efforts to identify potential investments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A seasoned professional with 4-6 years of direct experience in private equity or investment banking. This role requires a strong foundational understanding of investment principles, capital markets, and corporate finance.
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in performing financial modeling, preparing detailed valuation comparisons, managing due diligence processes, and contributing to the execution of complex transactions.
• Skills:
• Financial Modeling: Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in building and analyzing financial and operating models to evaluate investment opportunities.
• Valuation Analysis: Proficiency in various valuation methodologies and preparing accurate valuation comparisons.
• Due Diligence Management: Proven capability in leading and coordinating comprehensive due diligence efforts to identify key risks and opportunities.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for effectively interacting with internal teams, external partners, and portfolio company management.
• Organizational Skills: Superior organizational abilities and the capacity to prioritize multiple complex tasks and responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Bonus: Strong existing ties to the Texas market or a clear willingness to relocate to Texas.
