The Tone:

This Associate position is integral to the Petershill Strategies team, which was established in 2007 and specializes in acquiring non-controlling equity interests in the management companies (General Partners or GPs) of alternative asset managers. The role directly contributes to partnering with leading firms to accelerate their strategic development, support the creation of long-term value, and enable GPs to enhance employee retention, facilitate business development, buy out legacy equity holders, and create broader strategic options.

• Mission: Evaluate, execute, and monitor strategic equity investments in alternative asset management firms to support their growth and create long-term value.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investment Evaluation: Conduct thorough due diligence and evaluate GP stakes and preferred equity transactions, focusing on fundamental valuation across various strategy and sector-focused General Partners.
• Presentation & Analysis: Develop compelling materials and present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee through written and oral presentations, performing all necessary follow-up analysis.
• Deal Execution: Coordinate the execution of investments across all transaction types, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., counsel, compliance) and external parties (e.g., private market GPs, external counsel).
• Relationship Management & Sourcing: Assist in cultivating relationships with leading alternative asset managers for GP stakes and capital solutions, contributing to thematic sourcing initiatives to build a robust pipeline.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the performance and risk profile of existing portfolio investments to ensure ongoing strategic alignment and value preservation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate level professional with foundational career experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Leverage Finance, GP stakes investing, Private Equity, or other Private or Public Markets Investing domains.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience is required in relevant investment or finance functions, providing a solid understanding of financial markets and transaction execution.
• Skills: Demonstrated sound investment judgment; exceptional numerical, modeling, analytical, and valuation capabilities essential for assessing complex investment opportunities; strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills for effective interaction with investment committees and external parties; excellent time, people, and project management skills to coordinate multifaceted deal processes; and the proven ability to collaborate effectively as an integral part of a team.
