Investment Banking & Capital Markets – Banker – Financial Institutions Group Vice President | Deutsche Bank
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Deutsche Bank, located in New York, NY. Deutsche Bank’s Investment Banking & Capital Markets business delivers a full spectrum of investment banking products and services to large-cap and mid-cap corporates and financial sponsors. This includes comprehensive financial advisory, capital raising services, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and restructuring advice, supported by one of the world’s largest global debt and equity capital markets platforms. This role is crucial in supporting the execution of multi-dimensional cross-border and regional transactions for the Financial Institutions Group, applying advanced financial methods and models to advise clients on critical strategic and capital decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution Support: Support the execution of live transactions for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) coverage team.
• Company Analysis: Analyze the key attributes of client companies, preparing detailed memoranda and presentations.
• Financial Application: Apply financial, economic, quantitative, and qualitative methods and principles to evaluate and execute acquisitions, financings, and equity raising transactions.
• Model Development: Develop and apply advanced financial analyses and models.
• Communication & Reporting: Issue final reports of client interactions and discussions to senior management and maintain ongoing communication.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This Vice President role requires a Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred. Candidates should possess a strong foundational understanding of investment banking principles.
• Experience: Proven experience in investment banking is essential, encompassing quantitative and analytical support for M&A and capital markets transactions (IPOs, equity follow-ons, investment grade, and leveraged finance debt offerings). This includes supporting senior bankers through all stages of a transaction lifecycle, from pitching and bake-off presentations to preparing marketing materials, developing financial models, and executing deals.
• Skills: A background in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) / Insurance sector, through academic or work experience, is critical, including exposure to insurance brokers, InsurTech, insurance services, or traditional insurance carriers. Demonstrated leadership skills, the capacity to take initiative, assume responsibility, and foster a positive, collaborative team culture are required. Experience working with senior-level management while maintaining confidentiality is also necessary.
• Bonus: Series 79 and 63 licensing is preferred. Additional valuable skills include performing detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses on public and private companies, and conducting in-depth company and industry research to support live deal execution and pitches.
