Accounting Intern | Aveanna Healthcare

The Tone:
This is an 8-week paid full-time internship at Aveanna Healthcare, running from June 7th through July 30th, with a hybrid work model (in-office and remote) where hours are flexible between 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aveanna Healthcare is a company focused on providing healthcare services. This Accounting Intern role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely financial closing processes, providing essential ad hoc analysis to finance and internal departments, and supporting the company’s financial awareness. The goal is to contribute to efficient departmental operation, enable informed decision-making, and help accomplish long-term success by maintaining a clear view of the company’s financial condition.

• Mission: To support the overall efficient operation of the accounting department by performing accurate and timely close responsibilities, including journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations, thereby helping the company maintain awareness of its financial condition to make informed decisions and achieve long-term success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist with gathering back-up support and preparing Journal Entries.
• Assist with preparing and validating month-end close schedules and analysis.
• Assist in performing account reconciliations.
• Support various system-related projects by performing testing and documentation.
• Research, apply, and refund unapplied payments, while also assisting with unclaimed property escheatment and creating/updating process flow documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position for individuals currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, or those who have graduated with such a degree within the past six months. Completion of core-level accounting courses is required to ensure foundational knowledge.
• Experience: Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in essential office software, specifically Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, which will be vital for daily tasks and analysis.
• Skills: The role requires the ability to research and accurately interpret various payroll laws, regulations, and established practices, ensuring compliance and accurate financial operations.
