About the Role: Intern – Software Engineer, Generative AI Infrastructure
The Data Science Infrastructure team at Cisco Meraki is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to work on generative AI infrastructure. This role involves collaborating closely with data engineering and data science teams, as well as executives and leaders across the company, to support business strategy development.
The intern will be responsible for:
• Developing cross-functional relationships.
• Driving near and long-term initiatives to improve product and customer experience.
• Building robust and resilient auto-scaling GenAI platform solutions.
• Working with massive datasets (nearly 6 million data points per second).
• Designing and developing product features based on GenAI tools and infrastructure.
• Integrating new features with existing systems.
Example Projects:
• Collaborating with various teams (product and non-product) to understand functional and system requirements.
• Designing systems for fast, reliable, and scalable delivery of GenAI-based features.
• Solving scaling challenges to ensure seamless user experience and high uptime.
• Improving and restructuring backend architecture for scalability.
Required Skills:
• Upcoming Master’s Degree graduate.
• 2+ years of experience in Python and Scala/Java programming, and scripting languages.
• Experience writing professional production-level code and tests.
• Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
• Experience working with and utilizing GenAI tools and frameworks such as OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Co-Pilot, and Snowflake Cortex.
• Bonus points for experience with AWS tools and services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
