Intern, Corporate Finance | Global Industrial

The Tone:
This is an internship at Global Industrial, located in Port Washington, NY. For over 70 years, Global Industrial has been an industry leader, providing private label and brand name industrial equipment and supplies to businesses throughout North America. This role is crucial for supporting the Corporate Finance department, contributing to daily accounting operations, month-end reporting, reconciliation, and the development of robust budgeting and forecasting tools.

• Team: Corporate Finance, supporting the Accounting Department, Director of Finance, and FP&A team
• Mission: This role contributes to accurate financial reporting, reconciliation, and robust budget planning and analysis, helping to expand financial insights across the company.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel – Advanced User, PowerPoint – Advanced User)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide daily collaboration and support to the Accounting Department.
• Reporting: Assist the Director of Finance and FP&A team with month-end reporting and reconciliation.
• Analysis: Help the Finance Director expand variance analysis against prior year and budget targets to aid in forecasting.
• Budgeting: Collaborate with the FP&A team to create Budget Templates and Consolidation tools.
• Optimization: Learn weekly financial reporting metrics and suggest improvements and automation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current undergraduate student (Sophomore or Junior year) pursuing a major in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Proficient user of Microsoft Office Tools, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Skills: Solid analytical and strong organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization; capacity to handle multiple activities simultaneously and ensure accurate, timely completion of tasks.
