The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Client-site based, with travel required
• Pay: $34–$40 hourly
• Mission: To support the assurance process by understanding client operations, assessing risks, and performing tests to ensure accurate financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Needs: Gain a deep understanding of clients’ specific needs and expectations, their industry, overall business model, accounting and control systems, employee structures, company values, and the relevant industry-specific GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Audit Methodology: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the RSM audit approach, methodologies, and the various tools utilized in assurance engagements to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Internal Controls: Systematically assess operational risks and thoroughly evaluate the client’s internal control structure to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.
• Procedural Testing: Execute substantive tests and perform detailed tests of internal controls to effectively identify, analyze, and resolve any accounting or financial reporting issues that may arise.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Take part in drafting accurate financial statements, adhering strictly to prescribed formats and established professional guidelines.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be actively working towards a B.A. / B.S. degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited university, with an academic focus on Accounting. Completion of at least 90 credit hours is a mandatory prerequisite for this internship.
• Experience: This role requires regular travel to assigned client locations. Candidates must possess access to and the ability to arrange for the use of reliable modes of transportation to facilitate these necessary client visits.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong computer skills are essential for this role, including proven proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for various tasks and analyses.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates will have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. Additionally, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, and the capacity to work and multitask efficiently in a demanding environment are highly valued.
