Intern Audit Summer 2028 | Metro DC | Forvis Mazars US

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Testing: Complete audit testing on financial statement accounts such as cash, accounts payable, or fixed assets.
• Data Analysis: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Report Drafting: Help to draft management letter comments and sections of the audit report.
• Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Intern candidates must be actively working toward CPA Exam eligibility, demonstrating satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework. A minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 is required. The role also requires a solid foundation in technical accounting knowledge, typically gained through relevant university studies.
• Experience: This is an entry-level professional opportunity designed for individuals eager to start their careers in audit. Interns will gain practical experience by working on client engagements that mirror those assigned to entry-level associates, providing immediate exposure to the demands of public accounting.
• Skills: Essential skills include effective time management to handle multiple tasks efficiently, strong oral and written communication abilities for clear client and team interactions, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team while also performing independently. A problem-solving attitude, close attention to detail for accuracy in financial analysis, a willingness to take initiative, and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines are all critical for success in this role.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include strong computer skills, particularly proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite. Additionally, candidates must have reliable transportation to and from their assigned office and possess the ability to attend off-site client meetings and events in person as required.
