Job Description
What To Expect (General Internship Details)
• Start Date and Duration: This position is expected to start in August 2025 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e., through December) or potentially into early Spring 2026, if available.
• Minimum Commitment: A minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, is required for most internships. Applicants are asked to consider this before applying.
• International Students (CPT Work Authorization): If your work authorization is through CPT, you must consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week, as this is required for external applicants. Many students may be limited to part-time during the academic year.
What You’ll Do (Specific Internship Roles and Responsibilities)
Fixed Assets (FA Intern):
The FA Intern will gain in-depth exposure to:
• Understanding of fixed asset accounting and life cycle.
• Participate in fixed asset annual confirmation.
• Work closely with internal and cross-functional teams.
• Assist with process improvement and system automation.
Warranty/Manufacturing Costs (Warranty Costs Intern):
The Warranty Costs Intern will be responsible for:
• Controlling warranty costs, defining action plans for potential deviations, predicting future costs, and recommending accruals.
• Collaborating and liaising with cross-functional team members to target warranty reduction.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce warranty costs and supporting their implementation.
• Maintaining phenomenal relationships with Business Partners and Accounting peers to address information reporting needs.
• Preparing Accounting schedules routinely and as requested for internal and external reporting requirements.
• Documenting controls, processes, and procedures related to warranty and ensuring SOX 404 compliance.
Business Analytics (Business Analytics Intern):
Tesla’s Business Analytics team supports the company’s mission by converting raw data into actionable insights and automation through:
• Operational analysis: Building automated operational models, conducting ad-hoc analysis, and making recommendations to management.
• Business intelligence: Increasing data visibility and access for business teams through the creation and curation of data platforms, operational reports, self-service data tools, and managerial dashboards.
• Data engineering: Building and managing data pipelines and analytical database architecture.
• Data science: Conducting statistical analysis and training machine learning models to inform and control operational decisions.
What You’ll Bring (Required and Preferred Qualifications)
• Evidence of exceptional ability, especially within an ambiguous environment.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Accounting or a related area (for Fixed Assets/Warranty Costs).
• Currently pursuing a degree in STEM, Quantitative Field (CS, Applied Statistics, Operations Research), or Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics (for Business Analytics team).
• A robust analytical skill-set.
• Advanced experience in Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft PowerQuery/Power BI and/or SQL a plus.
• Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
• Experience with advanced Excel BI functionality and languages (Power Query (M), PowerPivot (DAX)).
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial modeling.
Benefits (Compensation and Perks)
Expected Compensation:
• $23.00 – $35.00/hour + benefits.
• Pay offered may vary based on individualized factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements.
