AARP’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department is responsible for enterprise-wide technology and information security, encompassing infrastructure, system implementations, and network security, utilizing technologies like cloud computing, automation, AI, and machine learning within Agile teams.
Job Description: Information Technology Intern
AARP’s ITS team is seeking a rising junior, senior, or graduate student for a paid internship (May/June 2025 – August 2025). This internship offers the opportunity to apply computer science, technology, business, and people skills within a dynamic, agile environment focused on impacting the 50+ community.
Responsibilities:
• Prototyping various technologies, including generative AI systems.
• Meeting with key ITS leaders to learn about technology solutions enabling AARP’s goals.
• Contributing to data analyses and report writing.
• Applying AARP’s Design Thinking framework.
• Utilizing Agile principles and practices with AARP teams.
• Collaborating with technology stakeholders to provide service solutions.
• Enhancing system security, performance, and availability.
• Constructing, implementing, and deploying process-centric Business Process Management solutions.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in math, statistics, scientific computing, data & analytics, business analytics, marketing, or a related field.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and a capacity for quick learning.
• Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly.
• Proven analytical skills and strong written/oral communication.
• College-level coding experience (Java, C/C++, Python, etc.).
• Proficiency with business tools (Windows, Office Professional, Visio, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively in an open office environment.
• Ability to work in a hybrid work environment (remote work on Mondays and Fridays, except for essential functions; remote work limited to the US and territories).
Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly rate: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internship is a non-exempt position and does not include employee benefits. AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
