Import Coordinator – Ocean | Forward Air Corporation
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Forward Air Corporation, located in an on-site setting. The company supports international ocean import operations, ensuring the smooth movement of goods. This role is crucial for assisting with shipment coordination from arrival through inland delivery, processing necessary documentation, and tracking shipment milestones. By maintaining accurate records and coordinating with various partners, this position directly contributes to timely customs clearance and efficient delivery processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate: Assist with the coordination of ocean import shipments from vessel arrival through final delivery stages.
• Process: Process and meticulously review import documentation, including bills of lading and arrival notices.
• Maintain: Accurately enter and maintain shipment information within CargoWise and other designated systems.
• Monitor: Track customs clearance progress, port availability, and key inland delivery milestones to prevent delays.
• Communicate: Liaise effectively with steamship lines, NVOCCs, customs brokers, drayage providers, warehouses, and internal teams.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Experience: Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or related operations roles is necessary. Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS/forwarding tools, or the demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly, is also required.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, effective communication skills, keen attention to detail, and excellent time-management abilities are essential. Must be proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 applications, and web conferencing platforms.
• Bonus: An undergraduate degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is preferred. A basic understanding of ocean import processes and containerized freight is also a plus.
