Job Description: HR Ignite Internship (Summer 2026)
Overview
The Ignite Internship Program at Selective Insurance is an 11-week, full-time experience designed for college students planning to intern during the summer of 2026. This award-winning program, based at the corporate office in Branchville, NJ, offers a comprehensive sneak peek into the insurance industry. Participants will enhance their skills and knowledge by engaging in their chosen business area.
The program provides exposure to the corporate environment through on-the-job assignments, team projects, interaction with senior leadership and executives, and a community volunteer day. It also facilitates the building of meaningful relationships within the organization.
Department Focus (Human Resources)
The Human Resources department is crucial for managing employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. It plays a vital role in fostering a positive work environment and supporting organizational goals. An internship in HR offers students hands-on experience in various HR functions, develops communication and problem-solving skills, and provides an understanding of HR’s strategic impact on a business. It’s an opportunity to learn about employee management and contribute to creating a productive workplace.
Location
This is a hybrid position, requiring applicants to be within commuting distance of the Branchville, NJ location.
Responsibilities
• Works as part of the HRIS team to deliver automated solutions for HR and participates in assigned projects.
• Imports and manages data within the UKG HRIS platform, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Helps manage payroll records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Responds to HR Assistance employee requests, enhancing the overall employee experience and escalating as necessary, ensuring adherence to defined service levels.
• Assists the Shared Services team in providing administrative support to all areas within Human Resources.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
• Must be a current college student to qualify.
• Demonstrates an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
• Must be enthusiastic, a self-starter, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess the ability to understand departmental operations and procedures.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution’s requirements.
Education And Experience
• High School Diploma required.
• Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors.
• Ability to perform at a professional level.
Pay Range
USD $21.00 – USD $24.00 /Hr.
