Host/Hostess and Service Professional | John Knox Village

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at John Knox Village, working in person within its diverse dining services. John Knox Village offers seven individual dining outlets on its 400-acre residential property, focusing on fresh, scratch-made cuisine and exceptional service. This role is crucial for providing essential host and service duties in the main dining room, supporting the mission and values of the community by ensuring a welcoming and efficient dining experience for residents and customers.

The TL;DR

• Team: Supports dining services under chef leadership, working alongside skilled prep and line cooks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Greet and seat customers warmly, using appropriate methods to balance server distribution effectively.
• Service all take-out order requests efficiently and accurately.
• Perform cashier responsibilities, including handling cash and operating a cash register precisely.
• Prepare and set up assigned dining areas to ensure readiness for service.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of dining areas after service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Ability to interact effectively with a large group of residents/customers and commit to annual “Improve U” training.
• Experience: Beginner-level proficiency in cash handling and operating a cash register.
• Skills: Clear communication using simple sentences; competency in reading and comprehending simple instructions and memos; basic mathematical skills for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing; ability to apply common sense to straightforward instructions; capability to perform tasting and/or smelling for quality assurance.
