Graduate Studies Assistant Director | UCLA School of Law
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at UCLA School of Law, located in Los Angeles, CA, with a hybrid onsite requirement of 2 days/week. The School of Law provides comprehensive legal education and advanced master’s degree programs, including the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) and Executive Education programs. This role is crucial for attracting, recruiting, and supporting a diverse group of master’s students, ensuring their academic and professional success from initial outreach through graduation.

• Mission: Supports incoming and current students for the UCLA School of Law master’s degree programs and conducts direct outreach to qualified applicants.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Applicant Outreach & Recruitment: Conduct direct outreach to qualified applicants and coordinate recruiting efforts for the Master of Legal Studies and Executive Education programs.
• Student Support & Advising: Provide comprehensive support to current, former, incoming, and prospective students on a wide variety of academic, professional, and non-academic matters.
• Digital Marketing & Social Media: Lead the social media presence for assigned programs and create digital assets used in marketing and outreach efforts.
• Program Representation & Presentations: Represent the program(s) at national and international receptions and recruiting events, delivering presentations about the programs, the Law School, and the application process.
• Information Sessions & Operations: Lead information sessions for admitted and prospective students and complete other necessary tasks to support the programs as directed by program leadership.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience/training.
• Experience: Required experience with student advising, preferably in a higher educational setting.
• Skills:
• Skill in listening perceptively, conveying understanding, establishing rapport, gaining trust, and motivating others.
• Ability to work with and communicate effectively and diplomatically with applicants, students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
• Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of goals and job responsibilities, and adjusting them as needed.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
• Bonus:
• Experience recruiting students for educational programs.
• Experience providing student services in a higher education setting.
• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree or Bachelor’s of Law (LLB) Degree.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, enjoyment of strategizing about program growth while maintaining excellence, and an ability to respond nimbly to a rapidly evolving educational landscape.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, and to undertake domestic (10%) and international (10%) travel.
