St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility specializing in care for children, adolescents, and adults dealing with mental health issues and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. In this role, the Graduate Nurse provides crucial temporary nursing practice, delivering holistic, quality care under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, ensuring continuity of patient support during their licensure process and contributing to positive patient outcomes.

• Mission: Responsible for delivering holistic, quality, and cost-effective nursing care to patients and their families within a specific unit, considering the entire episode of care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to assigned patient populations, adhering to established protocols and standards.
• Nursing Process: Apply the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) to ensure effective patient care outcomes.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Safety & Communication: Ensure patient safety, adhere to all infection control and safety policies, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of an Associate Degree from an accredited Nursing program is required for this early career role, providing the foundation for professional nursing practice.
• Experience: Must have completed the application to sit for the Connecticut RN license examination. The necessary licensing must be obtained within 90 calendar days of the graduation date to continue temporary practice.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to thoroughly develop, deliver, and evaluate patient care outcomes. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
• Bonus: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. If hired with an Associate Degree, there is a commitment to obtain a BSN within six (6) years of the hire date.
