Graduate Intern for Women’s Basketball
The Graduate Intern for Women’s Basketball is a 10-month, 35 hour/week position designed to provide comprehensive support to the Women’s Basketball Program and the broader Department of Athletics. This role offers an immersive experience, focusing on a variety of responsibilities critical to collegiate athletics, including coaching, recruiting, team operations, and administrative duties. The Graduate Intern is expected to maintain full compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations throughout their tenure.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Assistant Coaching Responsibilities
- Program Organization & Administration: Assist the Head Coach in the overall organization and administration of the competitive basketball program, requiring attendance at all practices and games.
- Recruitment: Actively assist the Head Coach in identifying, contacting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes.
- Video Support: Provide assistance with video editing and exchange needs for scouting, game analysis, and player development.
- Fundraising: Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising initiatives to secure funds for non-budgeted expenses as appropriate.
- Community Engagement: Assist in organizing and facilitating community service projects for team members, aligning with the missions of the NCAA, Regis Athletic Department, and Regis College.
- Academic Support: Aid in the implementation and supervision of team-specific academic enrichment programming to ensure student-athlete success.
- Compliance: Demonstrate a thorough understanding and strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing collegiate sport competition as established by Regis College, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, the ECAC, and the NCAA (Division III).
- Departmental Participation: Participate in Athletic Department staff meetings, functions, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics Administration.
Department of Athletics Responsibilities
- Events Operations Team: Serve as an active member of the Events Operations Team, attending regular weekly meetings.
- Event Support: Assist the Events Operations Team with the setup, staffing, breakdown, and logistical coordination of intercollegiate competitions and events.
- Transportation Management: Contribute to coordinating and maintaining the department’s transportation fleet.
- Graduate On-Call (GOC) Rotation: Participate in the Graduate On-Call rotation to provide support in the event of a college closure.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position may involve providing support and supervision to undergraduate work-study students.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, along with admission to one of Regis College’s graduate programs.
- Experience: Prior successful playing or coaching experience at the college level is preferred; significant successful high school or club experience will be considered.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are essential for managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, and strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with various college constituencies.
- Flexibility: The ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends, is necessary.
- Teamwork & Independence: Must work well both as a team member and independently.
- Problem-Solving: Excels in prioritizing multiple tasks with attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and follow-through to consistently meet expectations and deadlines.
- Certifications: Appropriate certifications in First Aid / CPR and AED are required within an appropriate time of hire and must be completed (per NCAA regulations) before the beginning of the competitive season.
- Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Athletics Background: Previous experience in athletics is a plus.

Salary & Benefits
- Stipend: $4,000 stipend for the 10-month duration.
- Housing & Meals: Free room and a full meal plan during the 10-month duration, with supplemental meal stipends for summer and winter breaks based on work schedule and internship dates.
- Tuition Remission: Tuition remission for two (2) eligible Regis graduate courses per semester, with a maximum of six graduate courses (18 credits) per academic year.
- Eligible Graduate Programs (On-Campus):
- 60 credits of MA in Counseling (24 credits not covered; supervised field experience must be completed after the intern role).
- 33 credits of MS in Regulatory and Clinical Research Management.
- 30 credits of MS in Digital Marketing and Communications.
- 36 credits of Accelerated MBA program.
- Eligible Graduate Programs (Fully Online, space-available basis):
- 33 credits of MS in Health Administration.
- 42 credits of Master of Public Health (6 credits not covered).
- 30 credits of Master of Social Work.
- Ineligible Programs: Courses in Graduate Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Speech Language Pathology, and Doctor of Education programs are not eligible for tuition remission.
- Professional Development: Training and professional development opportunities.
- Schedule: Flexible schedule.
- Term: This is a 10-month position, with the opportunity to continue for one additional 10-month term (maximum of 2 academic years).
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Environment: Conditions include a normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
- Schedule: Some evening and weekend work is to be expected.
- Physical Demands: May spend extended periods at a terminal, on the telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
