The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). MUFG is one of the world’s leading financial groups, striving to make a difference for clients, organizations, and communities globally. This role is crucial for leading the development and management of the organization’s global privacy compliance program, ensuring the secure handling of data and adherence to evolving regulations across a complex, regulated environment. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day.

• Mission: Lead the global privacy compliance program to ensure secure data practices and adherence to evolving regulations within a complex financial services environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Leadership: Leads the development and management of the organization’s global privacy compliance program, ensuring adherence to evolving regulations.
• Regulatory Interpretation: Interprets and applies global and local privacy regulatory changes, including data transfer requirements, partnering with legal and business units.
• Risk & Incident Management: Conducts or oversees privacy impact assessments, manages privacy incident reviews and remediation activities, and oversees Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
• Data Governance: Establishes and enforces controls to safeguard data confidentiality, integrity, and availability, ensuring appropriate collection, use, storage, transfer, and disposal of highly confidential information.
• Reporting & Training: Leads privacy metrics analysis and reporting for senior leadership, manages the development of training and awareness materials, and liaises with internal auditors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Vice President level role in compliance, legal, or privacy, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, computer science, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Six or more years in compliance, legal, or privacy roles, preferably within financial services or regulated industries, with solid experience developing and implementing privacy frameworks, conducting risk assessments, performing regulatory interpretation, and creating compliance reports.
• Skills: Advanced knowledge of global privacy regulations including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), and General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
• Bonus: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent data privacy certification preferred.
