The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, requiring travel to various sites

• Team: Geotechnical group
• Mission: Support the geotechnical group across multiple regions by executing essential field, laboratory, and engineering tasks.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Site Inspection: Conduct on-site construction phase soil and concrete testing, inspection, and sampling to ensure material compliance with project specifications.
• Lab Analysis: Perform laboratory soils testing, including permeability and maximum dry density/optimum moisture content determination.
• Geotechnical Investigation: Witness and document soil borings and/or test pit investigations as part of comprehensive site geotechnical assessments.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection reports, laboratory data reports, and other project correspondence based on collected data and observations.
• Logistics Support: Deliver samples and testing equipment efficiently between various construction sites, the office, and the laboratory as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with the goal of a Geotechnical Engineering career.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience in Geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to residential or commercial/industrial/office site design and permitting.
• Skills: Knowledge of basic soil mechanics and introductory geotechnical science topics; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project; excellent written and oral communication skills; independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Bonus: Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or EIT-track preferred; completion of construction materials laboratory class work is beneficial.
