General Manager I | Advance Auto Parts

The Tone:
This is a full-time management role at Advance Auto Parts, located in Palmyra, PA. Advance Auto Parts is a prominent retailer specializing in automotive parts, accessories, and services for both do-it-yourself (DIY) customers and professional repair shops. This role is crucial for inspiring a store team, driving sales and service excellence, and fostering strong customer relationships to ensure business growth and operational integrity.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Exempt, minimum 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks), typically 5-6 days a week with 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends.
• Location: In-person, Palmyra, PA

• Team: Leads a store team of 10-20 Team Members.
• Mission: Inspires the team, helps Customers succeed, grows the business with integrity, and ensures financial metrics are met while maintaining service and appearance standards.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Excel, POS systems, Parts lookup systems, inventory systems, testing and diagnostic equipment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Achieve Goals: Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
• Manage Relationships: Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans.
• Develop Team: Select, hire, develop, manage performance, coach, schedule, and engage store Team Members.
• Ensure Operations: Ensure the execution of all inventory and operational standards.
• Coach Service: Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations for both DIY and Professional segments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, requiring a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), with a preferred Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area. Working knowledge of automotive systems is preferred.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment, with proven financial and business acumen and successful experience managing profitability.
• Skills: Ability to review and analyze profit and loss (P&L) statements, hold others accountable and give inspiring feedback, calculate figures such as discounts and sales increases, and speak and write effectively in English.
• Bonus: ASE Certification, Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area, proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, and ability to speak Spanish.
