Fund Accountant, Alternative Investment Funds | SEI

The Tone:

This position is vital for the rapidly growing Alternative Investment Funds accounting team within SEI’s Investment Manager Services Division (IMS). As a Fund Accountant, you will provide exceptional accounting and administration servicing for clients’ assigned hedge and private equity funds, acting as a crucial intermediary between the funds and their investment managers, and serving as the official record keeper for these funds.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting & Pricing: Utilize your accounting skills to price and maintain timely records for hedge and private equity holdings, leveraging various external pricing resources to ensure accuracy.
• Reporting & Reconciliation: Perform timely and thorough reconciliations regarding Net Asset Values and deliver comprehensive accounting reports, communicating all associated transactions for the fund(s) to internal and external clients.
• Audit & Compliance: Coordinate and support various year-end audit engagements in strict accordance with GAAP accounting standards, performing due diligence to ensure clients maintain compliance with government laws and regulations.
• Client Communication: Correspond actively with external investment managers to address day-to-day fund inquiries, including managing fee payments, resolving cash position breaks, and facilitating necessary reconciliations, prioritizing quality client engagement.
• Professional Development: Actively participate in various IMS and corporate professional development sessions to acquire tools for identifying process improvements across the division and organization, fostering opportunities to partner with a diverse team and grow your career.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience; Entry-Level career level.
• Experience: Internship experience is preferred.
• Skills: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel; self-motivation and drive to monitor multiple client deliverables without sacrificing excellence or quality; strong written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service skills.
