Accounting Associate | PBF Energy

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at PBF Energy, located in Parsippany, NJ. PBF Energy is one of North America’s largest independent refiners, operating oil refineries and related facilities through its subsidiaries. This role is a pivotal member of the team and plays a key part in the company’s financial operations. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for analyzing, documenting, and reviewing price updates related to secondary costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

• Mission: Manage and analyze secondary costs, ensure accurate price updates, and support the monthly financial close process.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Review RightAngle price updates related to secondary costs such as pipeline, rail, truck freight, and terminal fees.
• Document: Accurately document price changes and review updates within the RightAngle system.
• Prepare: Create journal entries for secondary cost accruals and develop relevant secondary cost metrics.
• Process: Handle secondary cost invoices by processing them through the RightAngle system.
• Reconcile: Prepare and analyze basic financial reports, assist in the monthly close, and perform fundamental account reconciliations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree. Entry-Level career with a foundational understanding of accounting theory and principles (GAAP).
• Experience: 1+ years’ experience in a public company or manufacturing environment.
• Skills: Proficient with MS Excel and SAP, strong analytical, accounting, and math skills, effective verbal and written communication, and strong organizational skills.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
