Bookkeeper/Accountant | Beny Sofer Inc
The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at Beny Sofer Inc, located in New York City. This position requires an experienced professional to take full ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations. The role is crucial for managing the entire accounting cycle, from processing transactions and performing reconciliations to generating financial reports and overseeing collections. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded professional capable of handling comprehensive financial management within the company.

• Mission: This person will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations, managing the full accounting cycle from transactions to reporting and collections.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Management: Record and categorize daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online and an ERP system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all financial activities.
• Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, actively investigating and resolving any discrepancies promptly.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices and customer payments, monitor aging reports, and proactively follow up on outstanding balances.
• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), provide timely management insights, ensure adherence to accounting principles, and assist with audit documentation.
• Payroll & Collections: Accurately process payroll and maintain employee records, while also communicating daily with customers to follow up on open invoices and ensure timely payments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, proficient in QuickBooks Online, and advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and formulas.
• Skills: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, clients, and team members; highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Bonus: Experience gained in a CPA firm or a family-owned business.
