The Tone:
This is a PRN (as-needed) role at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, located in Port Charlotte, FL. HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital is a 237-bed acute care facility dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services, including emergency care and various specialties, to the Charlotte County community. This position is vital for ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient menus and diet orders, directly supporting the nutritional well-being and satisfaction of patients.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Process menus and diet orders pertaining to the nutritional care and food service of all patients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Screening: Facilitate patient nutritional care by assisting Dietitians with screening new admissions and documenting food preferences.
• Data Management: Ensure accuracy of patient information by maintaining computer systems related to food and nutrition services.
• Menu Operations: Manage the entire patient menu process, including processing, modifying, collecting, and checking orders.
• Meal Service: Contribute to the delivery of patient meals and other production-related duties as required.
• Communication: Keep patients, families, and the dietary team informed through proactive and effective communication regarding food service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: No specific degree is required for this role.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Diet Tech is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong customer service and listening skills; ability to perform basic math functions; capability to handle multiple priorities.
• Bonus: Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition as related to modified diets is preferred.
