Flex Phlebotomist / Administrative Assistant | One Medical

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at One Medical, located in Plano, TX, supporting multiple offices in the market. One Medical, now part of Amazon, is a primary care solution dedicated to transforming healthcare by making quality care more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable for patients, providers, employers, and health networks. This role is crucial for delivering an exceptional in-office patient experience, providing essential clinical support services like venipuncture, and ensuring the office environment is welcoming and on brand. The individual in this position acts as a patient ambassador, removing barriers to care and directly contributing to a seamless and positive healthcare journey.

The TL;DR
• Role: Flex Phlebotomist / Administrative Assistant (internally known as Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist)
• Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Location: In-person, Plano, TX (supporting multiple offices in a market)
• Team: Works with Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, and providers, supporting multiple offices.
• Mission: To provide an exceptional patient experience through venipuncture and comprehensive administrative support, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office care journey.
• Tech Stack: Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, Electronic Medical Record System

What You’ll Actually Do
• Ensure a fluid and positive in-office patient experience through patient intake, managing same-day schedules, follow-up scheduling, and handling billing and insurance inquiries.
• Provide best-in-class venipuncture services for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics and assist with non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, and vaccinations.
• Maintain high standards of in-office care by properly labeling, handling, and processing specimens, managing inventory, and sterilizing tools.
• Support members beyond the lab by responding to patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers with clerical duties such as medical record review and DOH reporting.
• Perform all front-of-house administrative duties including patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, paperwork tasks, and daily office upkeep, including maintaining space organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or equivalent; demonstrated experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist.
• Experience: At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist obtained outside of a training or externship environment.
• Skills: Strong customer service skills with an ability to deliver patient-centric solutions; strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in computer technology, including typing and using multiple software systems simultaneously; proven ability to instill trust during collection processes.
• Bonus: Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams; additional experience with remote teams is a plus.
