Fixed Asset Accountant | The Davey Tree Expert Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Davey Tree Expert Company, located in Kent, OH, with a hybrid work site. The company provides research-driven tree services, grounds maintenance, and environmental consulting for partners in the U.S. and Canada. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial records by managing all aspects of fixed asset accounting, contributing to key initiatives, and supporting the team’s success. • Mission: To accurately account for and maintain all fixed asset-life functions and related financial programs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Asset Lifecycle Management: Account for all asset-life functions, including construction in process costs, capitalization, asset disposals, asset proceeds, and inter-company and intra-company transfers.
• Master Record Maintenance: Create and maintain asset master records, including depreciation useful lives, depreciation methods, and locations for accurate territorial costing.
• Program Administration: Process and maintain all license, insurance, personal property tax, depreciation costing, and monthly rental programs.
• Financial Reporting: Post journal entries for fixed asset-related items and perform monthly reconciliations of all asset-related general ledger postings.
• Specialized Accounting: Account for and reconcile assets qualifying for bonus depreciation and luxury auto limitations, and manage intercompany lease transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business. This is an early career accounting role.
• Experience: Preferred one to three years of accounting experience.
• Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, analytical, creative thinking, and documentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; ability to work independently and as part of a team, absorb and retain information quickly, and a strong desire to learn.
