• Team: The Firefighter-Paramedic is part of a 69-member operational fire agency team, working across six San Rafael neighborhood fire stations.
• Mission: This role protects life, property, and the environment by providing immediate emergency response and advanced medical care to the San Rafael community.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Firefighting: Perform firefighting activities to suppress and control fires effectively.
• Emergency Medical Aid: Provide emergency medical aid and advanced life support, including ambulance transport services.
• Hazardous Materials Response: Respond to hazardous materials incidents to ensure public safety and containment.
• Fire Prevention: Conduct fire prevention duties and community preparedness initiatives.
• Maintenance: Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities to ensure optimal operational readiness.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, requiring a high school diploma and a minimum of 21 semester units of college coursework.
• Experience: Completion of CA State Board of Fire Services Firefighter I curriculum and a valid California Paramedic License (or equivalent) are required, with the ability to obtain prior to appointment (expected by February 16, 2024). A CPAT card dated on or after November 1, 2022, is also mandatory.
• Skills: Emergency medical aid, firefighting techniques, hazardous materials incident response, fire prevention, and equipment maintenance.
