Financial Planning & Analysis Internship | ERCOT

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at ERCOT, located in Taylor, TX. ERCOT is dedicated to shaping the future of the Texas power grid and wholesale market, using modern technologies and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. This role supports the corporate financial planning and analysis function, providing essential data and insights that inform key business decisions for the electric industry. Interns contribute to solving real challenges, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing skills in a professional environment aligned with ERCOT’s mission.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time (Summer 2026, start of June through second week of August)
• Location: Taylor, TX (Hybrid – minimum 2 days on-site per week)
• Pay: $23–$39 hourly
• Team: Within the Financial Planning & Analysis department.
• Mission: Support ERCOT’s financial processes and business decisions by assisting with financial analysis, data reconciliation, and potentially delivering key projects like the Annual ISO/RTO Benchmarking presentation.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ERP and Financial Planning systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review spend requests to ensure accurate financial coding.
• Assist with the development, preparation, and reporting of financial analysis related to budgets, actuals, and forecasts.
• Run integrations and perform reconciliations of data between ERP and Financial Planning systems.
• Update the financial planning system with guidance from team members.
• Make routine business decisions and escalate issues to management when necessary.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience: Early Career. This internship provides hands-on experience in corporate financial planning and analysis within the electric industry.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; a general understanding of accounting concepts including general ledger, revenues, expenditures, amortizations, and accruals.
