ERCOT Internship Program Overview
Our Internship Program offers college students a unique opportunity to develop skills in a technical, high-paced, professional environment. Interns receive assignments and projects designed to solve real challenges within the electric industry, gaining valuable hands-on experience and working alongside ERCOT employees as part of a team. The program also allows ERCOT leaders to evaluate interns’ capabilities and compatibility with ERCOT’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Learning Opportunities
- Gain experience with corporate financial planning and analysis concepts and understand how data informs business decisions.
- Develop an understanding of accounting processes and General Ledger (GL) entries, including revenues, expenditures, amortizations, and accruals.
- Receive exposure to personnel processes such such as positions and job requisitions.
- Learn about procurement processes and terminology, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoicing.
Summary of Responsibilities
As an intern, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing spend requests for accurate coding.
- Assisting in the development, preparation, and reporting of financial analysis related to budgets, actuals, and forecasts.
- Running integrations and performing reconciliations of data between ERP and Financial Planning systems.
- Updating the financial planning system with guidance from team members.
- Making routine business decisions and escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Performing all work according to applicable rules, regulations, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
Project Deliverable
A probable key project deliverable will be the Annual ISO/RTO Benchmarking presentation, though another project may be assigned if deemed more appropriate by management.
Education & Qualifications
- Required: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an academic bachelor’s or post-graduate degree program and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Experience
- Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- General understanding of Accounting concepts such as general ledger, revenues, expenditures, amortizations, and accruals.
Work Location & Schedule
- Location: Taylor, TX.
- Interns will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on business requirements as determined by management.
- This is a full-time internship for the Summer of 2026, running from the start of June through the second week of August.

Expected Salary Range
$23 – $39 per hour
