Job Title: Financial Intern

Job Description Summary

The Financial Intern will be an integral part of our finance team, playing a crucial role in supporting core financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions. This dynamic position involves significant contributions to research efforts, particularly in identifying federal and state funding programs and evaluating market opportunities. Key responsibilities include preparing essential management reports, assisting with critical monthly close activities, and conducting in-depth analysis of budgets, forecasts, and performance variances. The intern will also contribute to the development of robust Power BI dashboards, support comprehensive executive reporting, identify and champion process improvements, and perform various ad hoc analyses vital for strategic decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of reporting and analytics designed to furnish management with essential information for informed financial business decisions.
  • Participates actively in the consolidation of the annual plan, monthly financial results, forecast requirements, and associated reporting submitted to Heico corporate accounting; provides support for monthly close-related activities.
  • Conducts thorough analysis and interpretation of various financial documents, including financial plans, budgets, profit and loss statements, and other assigned financial reports.
  • Analyzes variances from planned and forecasted results, proactively identifying and reporting any inconsistencies or infractions.
  • Performs in-depth analysis of monthly results, offering critical feedback on key variances related to sales volume, price, mix, sales reserves, rebates, discounts, and freight.
  • Supports the creation and submission of comprehensive monthly executive packages for review by senior Heico leadership.
  • Utilizes Power Platform tools to construct effective financial analyses and assists in the development of sophisticated Power BI reports and dashboards by integrating diverse data sources.
  • Participates in significant Platform research projects, including investigations into import dynamics, federal and state funding programs, and the analysis of available and serviceable market opportunities.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for continual improvement across reporting and analysis processes.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis as requested and undertakes other related duties as assigned to support the finance department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: Prior internship or work experience in an accounting or finance role is desired. Demonstrated interest and practical experience in research are also highly valued.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills are mandatory, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Core Competencies: Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Work Ethic: Exhibits an excellent work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an Onsite, paid internship requiring approximately 30 hours per week. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, commencing at 8:00 AM.
