Financial Consultant Academy – January 2027 Cohort | Charles Schwab
The Tone:
This is a 15-month rotational development program at Charles Schwab, located in-office in San Ramon, CA. What You’ll Actually Do
• Licensing & Knowledge: Prepare for and obtain FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 licenses while strengthening your understanding of financial products and industry practices.
• Client Engagement: Gain hands-on client experience supporting retail clients through service and trading-related interactions, learning how Schwab products and services can support their goals.
• Problem Resolution: Manage competing priorities, apply sound judgment, and work through complex client questions in a client-facing environment.
• Professional Development: Receive wealth management and business development training, learn from mentors, coaches, and leaders, and develop consultative communication and relationship-management capabilities.
• Career Progression: Upon successful completion of the program, transition into a business development role, such as Investment Consultant or Financial Consultant Partner, within your selected host location.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Completed a bachelor’s degree prior to the program start date or possess equivalent work-related experience. This role requires occasional travel during the program, less than 10% annually.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage various priorities, stay organized, and follow through on commitments in a timely and effective manner. Possess a client-focused mindset with experience listening to needs, building trust, and delivering thoughtful solutions or support.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking and sound judgment when navigating unfamiliar situations, resolving complex questions, and identifying effective solutions. Receptive to feedback and coaching with a commitment to continuous learning and applying new knowledge to strengthen performance. Adaptability and persistence when working through challenges and ambitious development goals, with a proven drive to achieve goals and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
• Bonus: Holding the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) license. Possess one or more years of customer service experience or sales experience. Experience building relationships through clear communication, active listening, and consistent follow-up. Experience balancing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a strong client focus.
