Financial Analyst, Retail | AutoZone
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at AutoZone, located in Memphis, TN. AutoZone operates a vast network of retail stores and is a leading distributor in its industry, requiring precise financial oversight. • Mission: Assist in coordinating and executing period financial close, reporting, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support Retail operations and organizational business objectives.
• Tech Stack: PeopleSoft, RocketShuttle/ODS/SQL, Microsoft Office programs (Advanced Excel)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning & Forecasting: Actively participate in the planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, collaborating with Finance and Store Operations to align on assumptions for financial plans and forecasts.
• Period Close & Reconciliation: Perform period-end journal entries and detailed financial analysis, including the completion of balance sheet account reconciliations.
• P&L Analysis: Conduct comprehensive review and analysis of P&L accounts, identifying and explaining fluctuations or adjustments at both the DIY and individual store levels.
• Field Support: Research and provide timely responses to store and field-level P&L review questions, ensuring clear communication of financial data.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Complete various ad hoc analyses involving the extraction and manipulation of data to identify root causes of financial performance and provide explanations to stakeholders.
• Business Partnership: Function as a business partner, supporting evolving business needs by assessing the financial impacts of projects and initiatives and implementing process changes as they affect financials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BA, BS) or an equivalent field.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in forecasting and planning within a control group, or similar experience in an Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, be proactive, and partner effectively with the business; advanced Excel skills; strong initiative and self-starter capabilities; inquisitive and eager to learn; detail-oriented.
• Bonus: Proven skills with PeopleSoft, RocketShuttle/ODS/SQL, and other general Microsoft Office programs are a plus; a Master’s Degree, MBA, or CPA is preferred.
