Analyst, Division Finance | American Airlines

• Team: Finance Team within the Finance Division
• Mission: This role assists in developing comprehensive strategic financial plans, tracks performance, and conducts financial analysis to support the division’s goals and decision-making.
• Tech Stack: Advanced Excel, Hyperion, SAP, Tableau, Power Bi, Microsoft Office Software (Word, PowerPoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Participation: Participate in various projects that aim to drive business recommendations or support critical organizational decisions.
• Strategic Evaluation: Evaluate competitive strategies and analyze industry trends to determine their potential impact on current or contemplated action plans.
• Reporting Development: Develop comprehensive financial reports that empower business leaders with information to make informed and timely decisions.
• Budget and Forecasting: Develop the annual operating budget and create detailed models used to accurately forecast operating expenditures for the division.
• Capital Planning and Close: Coordinate the annual capital plan process, track actual and forecasted capital spending, create business cases for capital funding, and complete monthly financial close activities and revenue/expense reviews.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training, demonstrating foundational knowledge for an early-career finance analyst.
• Experience: 2-3 years of related work experience, with a proven ability to apply financial concepts in a professional setting.
• Skills: Superior analytical skills, including an understanding of discounted cash flow analysis, forecasting techniques, and variance analysis; advanced Excel modeling skills; capacity to assimilate, synthesize, and analyze large volumes of data; skilled in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to create and deliver presentations to all organizational levels.
• Bonus: MBA preferred; experience using Hyperion and SAP preferred; experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power Bi.
