The Tone:
This is a role at Backyard Products, an organization seeking a highly analytical and finance-driven Financial Analyst. This position is critical for supporting company-wide financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in corporate finance, accounting, and financial modeling, distinguishing them from a general business analyst. In this role, the Financial Analyst will closely partner with department leaders and executive leadership to provide actionable financial insights, improve forecasting accuracy, and drive operational performance across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Planning: Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and budgeting processes for the company.
• Strategic Modeling: Develop and maintain complex financial models to inform strategic initiatives, scenario planning, and investment decisions.
• Performance Analysis: Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and key business drivers to provide actionable insights.
• Reporting & Presentation: Prepare comprehensive management reporting packages, dashboards, and executive presentations.
• Operational Partnership: Partner with operational leaders to evaluate performance against budget and identify financial risks or opportunities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. This foundation should be accompanied by a strong understanding of core financial statements, comprehensive budgeting and forecasting methodologies, and fundamental corporate finance principles.
• Experience: Requires 4–7+ years of dedicated experience within FP&A, corporate finance, private equity, or closely related finance roles. Crucial experience includes working with ERP and financial planning systems (such as Microsoft D365, Great Plains, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle), and a proven track record of effectively partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling is essential. The role demands strong analytical capabilities to interpret large data sets and translate complex findings into clear, actionable business recommendations. Excellent communication and presentation skills are also critical for conveying insights to various stakeholders.
• Bonus: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in manufacturing, distribution, or other relevant industries. Familiarity with specific BI/reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau, and experience with KPI development and operational finance analysis, are also highly valued.
