Finance Tax Intern | Dominium

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site internship at Dominium, located in Dallas, TX. Dominium is a purpose-driven leader in affordable housing, developing and managing communities across approximately 20 states to provide quality homes and foster community. The company aims to make a lasting impact on people’s lives by tackling the affordable housing crisis. This role supports the Tax team, providing practical experience in tax accounting and compliance to advance Dominium’s mission.

• Mission: Assist with tax compliance, reporting, analysis, and administrative functions to support the company’s tax-related projects and regulatory requirements.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, Excel, Power BI (preferred), Power Query (preferred), SQL (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Preparation: Assist with preparing federal, state, local, partnership, and property tax returns, along with supporting schedules and workpapers.
• Information Organization: Review and organize financial and tax-related information to support compliance and reporting requirements.
• Compliance Monitoring: Support tax compliance activities by researching, tracking, and monitoring filing deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Analysis and Projects: Complete tax-related analyses, reconciliations, and special projects as assigned by Tax team members.
• Financial Tracking: Track invoices, prepare payment requests, and maintain supporting documentation related to tax obligations and filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be in the process of earning a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or have earned one within the previous 12 months. This is an Entry-Level role.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is required.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, and strong organizational and time management skills.
• Bonus: Exposure to or familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or other data analytics tools is preferred, as is an interest in tax accounting, tax compliance, real estate taxation, or corporate finance.
