Finance Internship | Essential Utilities, Inc.

The company delivers safe, clean, reliable services, including water, wastewater, and natural gas, to approximately 5.5 million people across 10 states through its Aqua and Peoples and Delta brands. What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Maintenance: Support the meticulous maintenance of the Company’s accounting records, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP and Regulatory Accounting standards.
• Financial Processing: Execute essential financial tasks, which may involve performing bank account reconciliations and preparing accurate journal entries.
• Model Development: Contribute to the enhancement of financial tools by redesigning complex Excel models to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Project Assistance: Provide support for various projects, ranging from routine administrative tasks to solving complex problems and preparing presentations for executive review.
• Closing Functions: Actively participate in month-end or period-end closing functions alongside the parent company, operating under the direct supervision of a lead accountant.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, having completed at least the sophomore year of college.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, coupled with the ability to evaluate and manage large data sets to support accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles. A GPA greater than 3.0 is required.
• Skills: Strong oral and written communication, effective project management, robust problem assessment and solving capabilities, and a keen attention-to-detail. Candidates should also possess intellectual curiosity and adaptability to new challenges.
• Bonus: Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local relevant regulations.
