Finance Intern – Summer 2027 | MacLean-Fogg

The Tone:
This is an internship at MacLean-Fogg, located in Mundelein, Illinois. MacLean-Fogg is a fourth-generation, family-owned American manufacturing company, founded in 1925, that designs and manufactures engineered components and solutions for automotive and industrial markets. As a Finance Intern, you will connect your classroom learning with the financial decisions that drive a manufacturing business. This role is crucial for understanding business performance, ensuring financial information accuracy, and supporting teams in making informed decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Information Management: Gather, organize, and check financial or operating information for completeness and accuracy.
• Financial Analysis: Use spreadsheets and other tools to analyze information and explain what you find.
• Business Integration: Support finance and accounting activities while learning how they connect to the broader business.
• Problem Solving: Ask questions, investigate differences, and seek guidance when information does not make sense.
• Project Completion: Complete a defined project and share practical findings and recommendations with leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or a closely related business discipline with relevant coursework. All college class levels are welcome.
• Experience: Basic familiarity with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools through coursework, projects, or work. Ability to work full time and on site for the internship, with limited start-date flexibility for academic calendars.
• Skills: Interest in understanding financial information and how a manufacturing business operates, willingness to learn, ask questions, check your work, and follow through on commitments.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Coursework or projects involving accounting, financial analysis, economics, statistics, or business data. Experience using spreadsheet formulas, charts, pivot tables, or lookup functions, or organizing information, managing a student-organization budget, improving a process, or explaining a recommendation.
