Internship Overview
The Finance Intern will play a crucial role in supporting financial, accounting, and compliance operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives across various domains, including revenue support, billing, reporting, accounting, and inventory control. The intern will gain hands-on experience by assisting with diverse projects throughout their assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial & Compliance Data Management: Input and analyze data across finance, accounting, and compliance systems. Provide support for finance and compliance activities and cross-functional projects.
- Stormwater Account Research & Validation: Conduct thorough research and verification of stormwater accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with established regulations.
- Departmental Reporting Assistance: Aid in the preparation and analysis of various reports for the department, contributing to informed decision-making.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Academic Status/Standing: Candidates must be currently enrolled in school or have graduated within 24 months from the date of application.
- Field of Study: Declared Majors in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or a closely related field of study are required.
- Degree Program Levels: Applicants may qualify with any of the following degree program levels:
- Associate’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree
Other Requirements
- Assignment Commitment: Candidate must be able to commit to a fixed-term assignment of 12 months, with an option to extend at NEORSD’s discretion.
- Work Hours: Ability to work 20-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Work Ethic: Must be a goal-oriented team player with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Driver’s License: Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with the District’s acceptable guidelines.
Important Information Regarding Employment
This internship provides for a time-limited role at NEORSD with no express or implied guarantee of future employment beyond the assignment period. This position is governed by all applicable NEORSD administrative policies, practices, and procedures related to temporary employees.
Protective Footwear Requirement
The District requires protective footwear (i.e., steel or composite-toed) when working in the plants, pump stations, construction sites, public rights-of-way, and other posted areas. New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment:
- Must be ANSI 241-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified.
- Must have a steel or composite protective toe.
- Must be, at a minimum, a 6″ work boot or 6″ hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted).
- Must have a slip-resistant sole.
It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have an included shank to protect the bottom of the foot.
Pay Range
Pay is commensurate based on the level of education:
- Undergraduate: $19.82 USD
- Graduate: $21.85 USD
