Finance Co-Op | Boeing

The Tone:
This is an early career position at Boeing, located in Wichita, KS, within its wholly owned subsidiary, Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. Spirit Commercial designs and builds essential commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. This Finance Co-Op role is critical for supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of these business units, providing vital hands-on experience in financial management within the aerospace industry.

• Mission: To support financial operations by developing, analyzing, and maintaining budgets, schedules, and forecasts for commercial aerostructures.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Budget Management: Develop, integrate, analyze, and maintain the budget and schedule baseline for specific statements of work, direct costs, or overhead pools, often requiring coordination across various operating groups.
• Financial Forecasting & Analysis: Develop, integrate, analyze, and continuously update financial forecasts for assigned statements of work, initiating detailed analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities and subsequently making recommendations to the statement of work owner.
• Reporting & Reconciliation: Run a variety of weekly and monthly financial reports to ensure accurate cost collection, meticulously reconciling data discrepancies and correcting errors in cost charging across complex and multiple budgets or pools.
• Stakeholder Communication: Develop and present comprehensive financial information to senior management, while also directly communicating with customers on routine cost, schedule, and budgeting issues pertinent to the assigned area of responsibility.
• Process & Tool Support: Troubleshoot existing process and tool issues, determining their root cause and recommending effective solutions, or referring them to the appropriate organization for resolution. This also includes participating in developing and presenting supplemental training materials to meet unique requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled full-time in a university degree program aligned to the area of internship, such as Business (Accounting, Finance, or similar), as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in good standing.
• Experience: No specific years required, but strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, with preferred advanced skills in Access and Excel, and experience with SAP, CRM systems, and data extraction.
• Skills: Financial analysis, budget and schedule maintenance, data reconciliation, financial reporting, presentation to senior management, and effective customer communication.
• Bonus: Advanced skills and experience with Access and Excel, experience with SAP, CRM systems, and data extraction, a proven ability to understand requests and establish process plans to achieve targeted outcomes for executive-level communication, and a process improvement and creation driven mindset with the ability to execute.
