Finance Development Program | DICK’S Sporting Goods

The Tone:
This is a 2-year developmental rotational program at DICK’S Sporting Goods, based in Pittsburgh, PA. The company believes in the positive impact sports can have on lives, and as a leading omni-channel sporting goods retailer, it is committed to equipping all athletes to achieve their dreams. This program is designed to immerse participants in a broad range of business activities within the Finance division, working through four crucial areas over 6-month rotations. By fostering the development of future financial talent, this role plays a part in sustaining the robust financial operations and strategic growth of an organization dedicated to creating an inclusive and diverse workforce.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Equip participants with broad financial business exposure and practical skills to prepare for a full-time role within the company’s Finance division.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Rotate: Complete four structured 6-month rotations across diverse teams within the Finance division, potentially including Non-Merchandise Procurement, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), FP&A Business Support Store Operations, and FP&A Supply Chain.
• Develop: Build essential functional and leadership skills through hands-on practical application and collaboration with experienced experts in each specialized discipline.
• Engage: Interact with teammates across all company levels, including Senior Executives, and gain exposure to cross-functional areas of the organization.
• Learn: Participate in various professional development workshops and opportunities, alongside receiving specific on-the-job training tailored to each rotational area.
• Transition: Prepare for a full-time role within the company’s Finance division, with placement based on business need, overall performance throughout the rotations, and specific areas of interest.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
• Experience: Less than 1 year of professional experience is required. Successful candidates must be able to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA, as the program is based at the corporate office.
• Skills: Strong mathematical and quantitative skills are highly preferred, demonstrating an interest and confidence in working with data and numbers; proven leadership abilities to independently make data-driven recommendations; clear written and verbal communication for reading and writing reports, as well as communicating cross-functionally and vertically; a curiosity and desire to learn about consumer and retail trends, including customer demographics, purchasing influencers, and emerging technology; ability to effectively manage work in a deadline-oriented environment.
