Finance Coordinator | Strategic Association Management

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Strategic Association Management (SAM), located in Austin, TX with a hybrid work structure. SAM is an association management company (AMC) that provides professional management services, offering creative staffing, strategic, and administrative solutions for diverse association and non-profit organizations. This role serves as an entry-level bookkeeper, ensuring partner organization finances are presented accurately and efficiently. The position requires a self-motivated individual who can produce high-quality, detailed, and consistent work, following established standards and procedures to maintain financial integrity for multiple clients.

• Team: Reports to the Finance & Operations Director, works in conjunction with Finance Managers & Director.
• Mission: Owns the accurate and efficient presentation of financial data for multiple partner organizations by processing day-to-day transactions and maintaining precise financial records.
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, Mac OS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactions: Process day-to-day financial transactions for 10-15 partner organizations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, and expenses.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with established accounting procedures, and organize both paper and electronic financial files.
• Compliance: Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies, preparing bank deposits regularly.
• Payables Management: Keep accounts payable current by regularly paying bills, ensuring each organization’s expense approval policy is diligently followed.
• Collaboration & Audit Support: Collaborate with the Finance team to improve processes, ensure efficient workflow, and assist with tax documents, filings, and financial audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, serving as an entry-level bookkeeper.
• Experience: One to two years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial experience preferred, with equivalent education, internship, or relevant work considered. Experience using accounting software like QuickBooks Online or similar systems is required.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent data entry, mathematical, and analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel) and Mac OS is essential.
• Bonus: Experience working with professional/trade associations or nonprofits.
