Finance Analyst – Northern California | Kiewit

The Tone:
This is an entry-level, full-time role at Kiewit, based in Fairfield, CA, with travel to project sites. Kiewit is a large construction and engineering company, improving communities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico through heavy civil projects like earth moving, water/wastewater, transportation, roadways, and power. This role is crucial for managing the business aspects of large-scale projects, from $1 million to $4 billion, by contributing to essential forecasting, accounting practices, and upholding the company culture. As an integral part of project finance, this position directly supports operational efficiency and accurate financial reporting.

• Mission: Support project business management and ensure accurate financial operations for construction projects through cost control, payroll, and accounting practices.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Provide essential accounting and finance support to construction projects, ensuring smooth business operations.
• Financial Management: Oversee critical tasks including cost control, payroll administration, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance.
• Month-End Reporting: Play an integral part in the month-end close process and assist in preparing comprehensive financial reporting packages for project management.
• Workflow Management: Master payroll and HR process workflows, including systems for employee hiring, transfers, termination, and payment.
• Cost Analysis: Review, adjust, and reconcile costs, quantity claiming, and budget structures to ensure accurate financial reporting and recognition of cost and revenue.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or an equivalent field, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: 0-1 years of financial or data analysis experience, with the ability to travel up to 25% to various project sites.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; effective oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies; and a valid Driver’s License.
• Bonus: Previous internship experience is preferred, along with experience using Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions.
