Finance Analyst Intern – Power Market (Summer 2027) | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is a full-time temporary internship at Kiewit, located across various project sites within North America. Kiewit is a substantial construction and engineering organization, undertaking projects ranging from $1 million to $4 billion across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a focus on improving and connecting communities. • Pay: $19.00/hr – $23.00/hr
• Team: Operational Finance Department within the Power Market, supporting project teams.
• Mission: Support project business management and financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting for projects ranging from $1 million to $4 billion.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage project financial operations, including cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and human capital management, ensuring business management for projects up to $4 billion.
• Become skilled in executing processes and utilizing tools related to diverse cost and revenue components, such as labor, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
• Act as an integral contributor to the month-end close-out process, assisting with the preparation of comprehensive financial reporting packages for project management.
• Comprehend purchasing workflows, invoice receipt and payment, troubleshoot payment or vendor issues, and manage intercompany and client billing processes, understanding their impact on cash management.
• Review costs, quantity claiming, budget structure, and exception reports, making corrections to ensure accurate reporting and adjusting forecast and budget issues for proper recognition of cost and revenue.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and/or an equivalent degree.
• Experience: Legally authorized to work without requiring sponsorship; ability to relocate anywhere in the country with up to 50% travel/relocation; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Effective communication (both oral and written), organization, interpersonal skills, good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Bonus: Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions; a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement.
