Finance Intern Summer 2027 | Kiewit

The Tone:
This is an internship at Kiewit, located in various project locations across the United States, requiring relocation. Kiewit is a vast construction and engineering organization that builds and connects communities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This role is crucial for supporting project operations by handling essential accounting and finance functions, ensuring projects are run efficiently like small businesses, with a focus on cost control, compliance, and accurate financial reporting.

• Pay: $18–$22 hourly
• Team: Operational Finance team supporting Kiewit Building Group projects
• Mission: Support project accounting and finance functions to ensure cost control, accurate financial reporting, and compliance for individual projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Support project operations by adapting to team needs and assisting in various financial areas as required.
• Relationship Building: Build relationships with the Operations team to understand construction work and its financial implications.
• Payroll & HR Management: Manage payroll and HR processes, utilizing systems for accurate employee hiring, transfers, terminations, and payments.
• Purchasing & Accounts Payable: Execute purchasing workflows, manage invoice processing, maintain internal controls for expenditures, and troubleshoot payment or vendor issues.
• Financial Reporting Assistance: Assist with month-end close processes and contribute to the preparation of financial reporting packages for project management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or an equivalent field. This is an Entry-Level position.
• Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to relocate for the internship.
• Skills: Effective communication (oral and written), strong organizational and interpersonal skills, good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bonus: Previous internship experience, experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions, a positive attitude, and an eagerness for continuous improvement.
